Why Ganesh Chaturthi is Celebrated
According to the mythological Ganesha legend, once the gods were engulfed in many disasters. Then he came to Lord Shiva seeking help. Kartikeya and Ganeshji were also sitting with Shiva at that time.

Hearing the talk of the gods, Shiva asked Kartikeya and Ganeshji, which one of you can relieve the sufferings of the deities. Then both Karthikeya and Ganeshji declared themselves capable of this task. On this, Lord Shiva took the test of both of them and said that the first of the two of you will revolve around the earth, he will go to help the gods.

On hearing this word from Lord Shiva's mouth, Karthikeya sat on his vehicle peacock and went out to revolve around the earth. But Ganesha got into thinking that if he would climb on top of the rat and revolve the whole earth, it would take him a long time in this task.

Then he thought of a solution. Ganesha got up from his place and sat back, revolving around his parents seven times. Upon returning to the parikrama, Karthikeya began to call himself the winner. Shiva then asked Shree Ganesh the reason for not revolving the earth.

Then Ganesh said - 'Heaven is within the feet of the parents.'

Hearing this, Lord Shiva ordered Ganesha to remove the distress of the gods. In this way, Lord Shiva blessed Ganesha that on the day of Chaturthi, who will worship you, all kinds of sorrows of the fast will be removed and he will get the physical pleasures of life. Son and grandson, there will be no shortage of wealth and opulence. Human happiness and prosperity will increase from all sides.

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Ganesh. This festival lasts for about 11 days. Although Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated all over the country, in western India it is going to look bright. Among them, especially in Mumbai, where during this time not only people from all over the country, but also people from abroad are engaged.
This year Ganesh Chaturthi 2020 is being organized on 22 August 2020.

Raudra Roop of Lord Ganesha
The whole world knows the anger of Lord Shiva (Mahesh) out of the three important gods of Hinduism - Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. If they get angry, then they can destroy the whole creation in a moment. But did anyone ever think that the child of Lord Shiva, famous for his raudra form, would be of the opposite nature from him?

We are talking about Lord Shiva's second son Ganeshji here. Ganesha, who is short in stature… fat belly… head of gaja and riding a mouse (rat), is known as Vighnaharta in Hinduism. Ganesha's body shape is pleasing to everyone even though he has a head of a human body and he is the most beloved god for his devotees.

Ganeshji's anger on moon?
They are going to defeat the obstacles of their devotees and their devotees also give them a lot of love and respect. Therefore, a question usually remains in the minds of the people after all how was Lord Shiva, the son of whose anger so frightened, that his sons were so quiet? But this is a misunderstanding.

According to mythology, Lord Ganesha was angry with the moon, which is still in effect today. But in this context the story is prevalent in the Dharma Shastras.

It is said that once Kuberji reached Mount Kailash with an invitation to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. He wanted Shiva and Parvati to come to their palace and dine with them, but Shivaji understood Kuber's intention. They knew that Kubera was only inviting them to the palace to show off his wealth.

That is why they refused to come forward, stating a reason for being involved in some important work. Parvati ji also refused saying that if her master is not going, then the question of her going alone does not arise. In such a situation, Kubera became unhappy and started praying to Lord Shiva. Then Shivaji smiled and said that if you have to serve us, you should take my son Ganesh.

Ganesh will give you full chance of service. Shivaji knew the wisdom of Ganesha so he took this decision. In the end, Kubera agreed to take Lord Ganesha. Fond of sweets, Ganesha dined in Kubera's palace that night. But even after eating so many sweets, they did not feel full and they started thinking that while leaving from here they will take some sweets for their eldest brother Kartikeya and some will eat themselves.

Ganeshji kept a lot of sweets in his lap and came out riding on his rat. The night was dark, but the Kailash mountain was shining with the light of the moon. Then Ganesha's ride saw a snake on the way and jumped with fear.

Due to this Ganeshji lost his balance and fell down. As a result, all their sweets were also scattered on the earth. He woke up ... looked here and there with the sight that nobody saw him falling. When they did not find anyone around, they were satisfied with their hearts, but where did they know that the moon was watching them from a distant sky.

Ganeshji then went ahead and was collecting his sweets that he heard the sound of laughing. If he turned his eyes right and left, he could not see any. But as soon as his eyes were on the sky, he saw the moon laughing.

Ganeshji was very embarrassed to see this, but the second moment he realized that instead of helping him, Moon was making fun of him. He was filled with anger in a moment and said, "Proud Moon! You make fun of my helplessness in this way. It doesn't suit you Instead of helping me, you are laughing at me, go I curse you that after today you will not be able to rule this huge sky. No one will be able to feel your light after today.

No one will be able to see you after today.

As soon as the curse sounded out of Ganesha's mouth, there was darkness all around. The light of the moon disappeared somewhere. He became frightened and the next moment he came at Ganeshji's feet and started apologizing, "O God, forgive me. I was unaware of your form and did not know what to say in the boast of my beauty ”, the very embarrassed Moon kept crying at the feet of Ganesha and kept crying. But Ganeshji's anger on the other hand was not taking the name of being calm.

After recognizing his mistake, Moon said, "Please forgive me and free me from this curse." If I could not spread my light on this world, the meaning of my existence would be over. Then Lord Ganesha smiled and forgave Moon but said, "You realize your mistake, it's a good thing." But I can not take back my curse even now. But to reduce the effect of this curse, I can definitely give you a boon.

Ganeshji told the moon that it would definitely happen that you would lose your light but this would happen only once in a month. After this, you will continue to grow again with time and then in a span of 15 days, you will be seen in your entire form.

This curse given by Ganesha still works today. Even today, the moon gradually decreases and comes to its full size once a month, which is called Purnamasi.

On receiving this boon of Ganesha, Moon was overjoyed and started to say thank you but then Ganesha gave another warning and said, "Both the curse and boon given by me will definitely work but at the same time you insulted me the whole world. Will remember You have insulted me on Chaturthi, so whatever my devotee sees you on this day, it will become an inauspicious sign for him. "

This is the reason that people who have been following Hindu religion for years do not even see the moon by mistake on the night of Ganesh Chaturthi.
